Revelation Cafe Music was formed to rerelease the album formerly known as "A City Set Upon a Hill Cannot be Hid" in 1998. The album was digitally remastered by BMG Studios and released in cd format for the first time under the name "Behold"; much to the producer's satisfaction, subtleties in the score that had been lost in the LP recordings reappeared in the cd version! Originally recorded during the height of the Jesus Movement in California, it features the work of a group of musicians called New Song Ministries and lyrics by Linda Stassen, author of world renowned "Sing Hallellujah to the Lord". Hauntingly beautiful arrangements and pure, heartfelt male and female vocals take the listener on a journey through the many facets of the love of God. Featured on this site are clips from seven tracks and the full title track; the complete cd contains 11 songs...If you're looking for a little inspiration, you'll find it here.
Editorial Reviews From the Label Newly digitally remastered and presented for the first time in CD format, this hard to find collaboration was formerly known as A City Set Upon a Hill Cannot be Hid, and was available in Europe and the South Pacific, but was never before released in the U.S. At the time it was first produced, it was praised for its production value by a secular reviewer who said "finally Christian Music has come of age." Sadly the tests of time have lost the review; yet even the masters were lost for years until recently, when a traveling friend came across the lone surviving copy and rescued it. We sent it to BMG Studios in New York where Harold Hagopian, a specialist in the digital preservation of antique music, was able to restore and digitally remaster the recording. A classically trained musician himself, Harold exclaimed after completing the project, "It's a perfect piece of music!" The original producer of this piece oversaw the entire process, and feels the quality of the reproduction surpasses by far any previous version. Revelation Cafe thanks Harold Hagopian and all who played a part in making this masterpiece of Christian expression available in CD format, and hope you the listener will love it as much as we do.
From the Artist Cover Artist: Sister Hannah. "As an artist, I was thrilled and honored that Revelation Cafe chose two of my paintings, "Return of the King of Kings" and "Name Above All Names" from my Revelation Series for the cover of Behold, I Come Quickly. I love this CD and find it esthetically beautiful and creatively inspiring; many sessions in my otherwise quiet studio have been saturated by its lovely sound. Thanks again to Revelation Cafe for rereleasing Behold, I Come Quickly and for choosing my work to adorn their lovely cd.
Album Description Heavenly vocal harmonies, inspiring lyrics and classically arranged orchestration take one on a journey through the heart in its hidden encounters with God. A childlike vision of the Kingdom and worship filled with the joy of salvation leads to deeper meditations on the love of Jesus and the promise of his return, carried by a range of style building from traditional praise accented by ancient Hebrew instrumentation to intricately arranged duets between harp and piano to soaring symphonic movements. Wherever you stand today, you'll find a song to comfort you, to minister to you, to admonish you, to lift your spirit with a refreshed understanding of the love of Christ, to adorn with song and music the wordless prayers of reverent longing and love welling from deep within you.
Sincere, innocent, beautiful: born during the Jesus Movement, this music is the work of a number of artists who first met at a musician's Bible study in California. Theirs is a message of hope and promise immersed in the simple sweetness which embodied the love of Jesus filling new believers of this time.
